Edge Body Boot Camp and the City of La Vista have teamed up to offer the first ever Pump & Run and 5k in La Vista. The Pump and Run is a unique combination of weight lifting and running, offered to all racers no matter gender or ability. Pump and Run participants will compete in a bench press competition as well as a 5k run (see event descriptions - which are also listed below). Don't lift weights? Don't worry runners, we have you covered too! We will also be offering the 5k as a separate event to those who just want to run and not participate in the bench press competition.
The Edge Body Pump & Run and 5k will be donating a portion of the proceeds to Operation Smile. Operation Smile is an international medical charity founded in 1982 and has since provided hundreds of thousands of free surgeries for children and young adults in developing countries who are born with cleft lip, cleft palate or other facial deformities. Post-Race Party: Everyone likes an after party! Join us after the race at the golf course for a post-race party with music and drinks....the adult kind. Infusion Brewery Co. will be at our post race party *providing some fantastic tasting beer. *must be 21 years of age or older to enjoy
Racers will receive a customed designed dri-fit shirt, 1 free Infusion beer (for those 21 & over), unlimited soda and water, and a post-race party. Additional beer can be purchased from Infusion at the party.
Pump & Run:
Those registered for the Pump & Run event will participate in the “Pump”, a bench competition, and the “Run”, a 5k run. The bench competition will take place Friday, September 30 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Edge Body Boot Camp. Participants will perform as many bench reps as they can. Women will be benching 50% (or half) of their bodyweight and men will be benching 75% (or 3/4) of their bodyweight during the bench portion of the event (example: a 140 lb female would bench 70 lbs as many times as she can. A 200 lb male would bench 150 lbs as many times as he can). These Pump & Run participants will then run in the 5k on Saturday, October 1 at 10:00 AM. Their total reps and 5k time will be calculated together. Each successful bench rep will result in 1:00 minute off of their 5k time. Please note: someone may have a “negative” 5k time if they bench more reps than the time it takes them to run the 5k (example: 35 reps and a 5k time of 29 min. 15 sec. would equal a total Pump & Run time of -6 min. 15 sec.). Packet pick-up will be Friday, September 30 at Edge Body Boot Camp from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM which will coincide with the "Pump" portion of the event. Participants can arrive and participate at any time during the 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM window. Racer check-in for the "Run" portion will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday. The top 3 lowest total times in each Pump & Run division (male & female) will be awarded for this event.
Those registered for the 5k Run will participate in only the 5k that will take place on Saturday, October 1 at 10:00 AM at the La Vista Falls Golf Course. An optional packet pick-up for the 5k run will be Friday, September 30 at Edge Body Boot Camp (time TBA). Racer check-in/packet pick-up will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday. Top 3 finishers in each 5k division (male & female) will be awarded for this event.
