Welcome to online registration for The Mullet Fall Classic!

Congratulations!  By registering online, you are getting a discounted entry fee and a Mullet t-shirt.  This online registration helps streamline the process of registration, assign number plates for your bikes and allows us to set up the timing data before race day. Thank you for choosing to use this option.  Online registration closes at 9 p.m. on Friday, October 5th.

**Day of race registration will be available from 9:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at the Lake Ahquabi Beach Shelter (online discounted entry fee and free t-shirt will not apply to those who register day of race).

The 2012 race is sponsored by BikeIowa.com, and promoted by Bruce Brown, Jed Gammell, and Rob Versteegh.  We invite everyone to stay for the post-race festivities featuring a chance to toast the 2012 Iowa Mountain Biking Championship Series and visit with fellow racers.  There will be potluck, grilling of beasts and plants, and a beer garden to guarantee a full afternoon of fun.  Proceeds of the race will go directly to Central Iowa Trails Association.

You have two racing options to choose between for The Mullet Fall Classic on October 7th, 2012 at Lake Ahquabi State Park.

First Option

Solo Marathon Junkies can delight in racing a 3 hour and 15 minute race as the endurance race option.  The race begins at 11:45 am and when the clock strikes 3 pm, all final laps that are underway will count and the racers with the most laps and best times combined win the cash awards.  This option features the following three categories for the marathon:  solo men's open, solo women's open, and tandem bike (as in bicycles built for 2).

Second Option

This option will be the traditional 2012 IMBCS cross country race categories of Expert (4 laps men/3 laps women), Comp (3 laps), Singlespeed (3 laps), Sport (2 laps), and Beginner (1 lap) to battle for the Mullet Classic Fall podium spots in their respective cross country race categories.

The cross country race is part of the Iowa Mountain Biking Championship Series (IMBCS) and is race #10, or the final event in the 2012 series.  It doesn't matter if you have been participating in the other races of the series for the year or not - it is open to everyone who wants to race.  The course at Lake Ahquabi is a very friendly course and ideal for beginners and first timers, but also has enough to challenge everyone else as well.

Lap counts and divisions for the IMBCS #10 are as follows:

CAT I - Elite/Pro/Expert (4 laps)

Lake Ahquabi State Park is five miles south of Indianola (17 miles south of Des Moines) on Hwy. 65/69 and one mile west on G-58. Enter Lake Ahquabi State Park through the main entrance where G-58 ends and the entrance gate is located at the 4 way stop. Parking and registration will be at the Lake Ahquabi Beach Shelter (once you enter the park, follow the road all the way down the hill to the beach area). We will use the Beach Shelter for the day of the race and restrooms (Porta Potties) will be located there as well.
